History

Sir John Beckwith founded London and Edinburgh Trust PLC (LET) and was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, developing it into one of the leading listed real estate companies in the UK. Sir John floated the company with a market capitalization of £27 million in 1983 and eventually sold the business in 1990 for approximately £510 million. Sir John is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Following the sale of LET, Sir John established Pacific Investments and acquired River & Mercantile through which the Group's asset management businesses were established.

Mark Johnson qualified as a lawyer before working in corporate finance at Barclays de Zoete Wedd. He was CEO of the Riverside Group, one of the UK's leading leisure groups, under the Chairmanship of Sir John, and oversaw its buyout and successful ultimate sale. Mark has been and is a founding shareholder and director of Pacific's investment portfolio companies. He has worked with Sir John for 18 years.
